The AP Homeowners Association’s 5th Annual Porchfest event will be held on Saturday, October 2nd from 12pm-5 pm on porches all around town. Local bands and performers will play at the family-friendly, free event, which features musicians from a wide variety of genres. Attendees can stroll from porch to porch and relax on front lawns and sidewalks as they enjoy live, local talent. The KICKOFF takes place at 11 am at Springwood Park, featuring the Bryan Hansen Band.
PorchFest was founded in Ithaca, NY in September 2007. Over the years, the concept of hosting performances on front porches for an audience that moved from home to home has grown with communities around the U.S. participating. Asbury Park’s passionate connection to music, its beauty and camaraderie, and its beautiful porches make it an ideal town for our own annual event, which is a favorite of locals and visitors alike.
Homeowners around AP have donated the use of their porches and lawns for a safe, fun event, which will follow pandemic protocols as they stand in the fall. Full details will be made available on the FAQ page of the PorchFest website, and a program guide will be available at the kickoff event. A map of porches and performers is posted on https://APPorchfest.org.
PorchFest is completely coordinated by volunteers who believe in the power of music and understand that engagement builds strong communities. You can show your support for local music, the arts, and your community by sponsoring a porch, placing an ad in the event program guide, or by making a donation, which helps the Asbury Park Homeowner’s Association and supports the community. In previous years, donations helped create the mural on City Hall, plant public gardens throughout Asbury Park, and provided music education scholarships for local kids who otherwise could not afford them.
