Come to beautiful Marine Park with glorious sunset views along The Navesink River while enjoying a multitude of fun activities with your canine pal on Monday, August 12th. Dog Days 2 starts at 6:00 and goes until 8:00.
The Red Bank Animal Welfare Committee (RBACW), The Mayor, Borough Council, and Parks & Recreation, have come together to organize Dog Days, and other initiatives, to promote animal welfare and public awareness for the responsible care and treatment of all animals.
There will be a variety of activities and free giveaways given out by vendors. Face-painting for the kids and how about a Frisbee Toss for your pup, or a cool-down in the kiddy pool? Pups only folks!
“It is so exciting seeing people who come from all over, young and old, ” says Recreation Director, Charles Hoffmann, “ a 6-year old boy, engaging with an 80 year-old woman as they pet their favorite breed and say how much they love Golden Retrievers.” There were over 300 dogs at the last Dog Days Event. Hoffman was pleased to report, “there were old-timers and puppies, and as a whole – very well-behaved.”
Of special interest will be microchipping. Your dog can have an identification chip inserted just under the skin so in case they get lost – the location of their owners can be found.
By popular request, a small lure course will again be set up. An enclosed running track will introduce your pups to a plastic cloth lure that they will chase, down a short strip of enclosed grass. How fast can your pup run? No speeding tickets given out here!
And what would a Dog Days Event be without music? The Wag Band, a Jam band from Middletown, New Jersey will be playing lyrical tunes for all ages, from The Beatles to Bruce Springsteen – A Jersey Shore Legend.
Contests? Prizes? That’s a high-five! There will be a contest for The Biggest and The Smallest Pups and of course the Pup with The Best Smile.
A great lineup of vendors will be on paw. Don’t arrive late.
