Look for meaning behind the metrics. Whether it’s a coaching conversation or an interview, I experience a deeper level of connection and awareness when we tune in to the words and behaviors under the surface instead of associating ourselves to the business story being presented. Imagine your conversations if you looked for the texture instead of the transaction.
The path toward mastery is in the moments, not just the milestones. I spoke with a lot of “masters” this month. Not one of them describes themselves as someone who had achieved mastery. All of them talked about a learning they had or one they offered as the most important element of a Warrior’s journey. I wondered what it would look like and feel like if we shared more of our masterful moments instead of our titles, certifications, and degrees.
I am reframing my relationship with the word motivation. Being surrounded by motivating people or being a motivated person does not necessarily translate into the best results. I don’t just want to move and be in action because the energy is motivating. I want motivation and inspiration to be in partnership. I would like it to be intention-based and come from thought leaders, trailblazers, provocateurs, and alchemists.
