Thanks and Giving

By Tracey Hall

Tomorrow we will come together and enjoy wonderful meals and celebrate family traditions. When thinking about the word “Thanksgiving” , it can be divided into two parts. Many of us are mindful and thankful but what about the “Giving” part? What can we do for those who do not have a home or a family, for those in the hospital or in a nursing home or shelters?

Many local organizations here at the Jersey Shore feed the hungry and collect clothes for the poor. You can donate money, a run down vehicle or simply give home goods you no longer need or use. Here is a list of Five Local Non Profits that will gladly take your assistance:

Fulfill NJ– formerly know as the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean County. This organization offers many ways to contribute from running your own food drive to teaching culinary skills and aiding in job placements.
