Thanks And Giving

By Tracey Hall ~

Tomorrow we will come together and enjoy wonderful meals and celebrate family traditions. When thinking about the word “Thanksgiving,” it can be divided into two parts. Many of us are mindful and thankful but what about the “Giving” part? What can we do for those who do not have a home or a family, for those in the hospital or in a nursing home or shelters?

Many local organizations here at the Jersey Shore feed the hungry and collect clothes for the poor. You can donate money, a run-down vehicle or simply give home goods you no longer need or use. Here is a list of Five Local Non Profits that will gladly take your assistance:

Fulfill NJ– formerly know as the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean County. This organization offers many ways to contribute from running your own food drive to teaching culinary skills and aiding in job placements.

Jersey Shore Rescue Mission– located in Asbury Park and tirelessly providing critical needs of the homeless in our area, including a place to sleep and a hot meal.

Holiday Express– celebrating 25 years of bringing human kindness in the form of music, food, financial support, and fun. Their upbeat performances are not to be missed! Everyone of all ages will enjoy the spirit with this ensemble.

Lunch Break– located in Red Bank since 1983, they have been freely providing food and clothing and most importantly, life skills and training for those in need.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
