Paws And Pour Pub Crawl

Last weekend, I went to a pub crawl in Belmar called “Paws and Pour.” Designed to raise money for rescue dogs around the Jersey Shore, it consisted of seven stops. Money raised went to the local non-profit, Rescue Ridge, who was there in full force to bring awareness to what they do in finding good homes for homeless pets.

The first stop of the crawl was McCann’s Tavern, located on Main Street between 17th and 18th Ave. It’s where everyone went to sign up and check in for the event. Over 80 people registered for the event! You were also given a little goodie bag of dog toys and such.

The second stop was Salty’s Beach Bar, conveniently right across the street from McCann’s. The organizers of Paws and Pour hosted a raffle giveaway while we were there and accepted  donations for Rescue Ridge. Each stop offered drink specials for this event. There was also a scavenger hunt you could take part in.

The third and fourth stop of the crawl required more exercise. From Salty’s we went further down Main Street to the Boathouse for an hour. Kudos to the bartender who managed our large group singlehandedly! Afterwards, we backtracked in the opposite direction to Bar A. Tables for raffles and donations were set up at both places.

Bar A was where things got very busy. Our group was offered a free buffet of hamburgers and hot dogs for participating in the crawl, but Bar A was also catering to three other large events being held there on the same day. Bar A is huge! This caused the line for food to be a bit longer than expected but it gave us a chance to get to know some of the other participants in our group.

Since people from our crawl were still in line and wanted to stay and eat, when it was time to migrate to the next bar, the organizers decided to make the fifth and sixth stops optional. Once everyone finished eating, my group went right to the final stop at 9th Ave Pier.

At 9th Ave. Pier, there was a musical group playing, simply called the NJ Party Band. They performed several cover songs from the 1980’s and 90’s as the sun went down to conclude the crawl.

Overall, I had a ton of fun attending the Paws and Pour Pub Crawl. I met some really nice people from Rescue Ridge and the Jersey Shore Day Drinkers club. Meredith did a great job coordinating this event, and I’d certainly recommend going to anyone interested in supporting our local non-profits.

About the event creator:

I am Meredith Filsinger. I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a local real estate agent with NextHome Force Realty Group and a community expert that runs a very successful Facebook group Events and Happenings in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, among various other local groups on FB. I am the Mom to two amazing rockstar children and to the best Rescue Dog there is.
All that aside, I am so much more!
I am all heart and soul which goes into absolutely everything I do (including making sure all my clients needs are taken care of from the first step in the process and way past the closing table).
I am very passionate about my local community and giving back to it. I make sure I use my influence to help make a difference.
I am proud to say that I hosted the first official Paws & Pour Pub Crawl in support of RESCUE RIDGE. This event was to help raise awareness and money, in order to give rescue animals the care they need, before making their way to their fur-ever homes.
All proceeds from this event went directly to Rescue Ridge.
It was truly an amazing day for a great cause!!! Our attendance was close to 100 participants and we raised a couple of thousand dollars for the animals. We had a great time, libations were flowing, and amazing connections were made. All while helping, which is the most important thing!
So I ask everyone to please share this! Follow me. Join my FB Group. Follow me on Instagram.
Most importantly, join me for my next Community Fundraising Event!
My goal is to have one to two more by the end of this year! Earlier this year I sponsored another incredible event where we collected over 200 pairs of leggings in support of 180 Turning Lives Around! Please help me to make a difference! All it takes is your support and one little random act of kindess each day to be the change in this world!
I want to thank every single person who came out to support this great cause.
A special thank you to Marybeth at Rescue Ridge, Nicole Feinblatt-Matteo for all your help, the Jersey Shore Day Drinkers Club, Jersey Shore Scene and all the bars that participated McCann’s Tavern Belmar, Salty’s Beach Bar, Boathouse Bar & Grill, Bar Anticipation, Jacks By The Tracks, 10th Ave Burrito Co., 9th Ave Pier, DJ Ron Moore and Emcee Kat Lyons at Bar A and NJ Party Band that provided us with amazing entertainment at our last stop!
If you would like to help and contribute to Rescue Ridge there is a donation option on my Eventbrite page to this event.
