I’ve just learned about a few organizations dealing with food waste in New Jersey- *If you are a gardener and end up with more produce than you can eat, contact:  http://ampleharvest.org/. You can also contact them as a food pantry to receive food, or as an individual to get food assistance. Gardeners harvest more than they can consume – 28 million people could be fed with what goes to waste. Please check out: https://ampyourgood.com – they have developed a new kind of food drive.
Crowd-Feeding enables food drives to raise healthy food: perishable food like fresh fruits and vegetables, organic food, whole meals and lots of other healthy food. Why? Because people facing hunger also struggle with diet related health issues – things like diabetes, obesity and hypertension – due to lack of access to healthy food. Crowd-Feeding ensures that people facing hunger get the food they really need. and https://tabletotable.org/ –
A community-based food rescue program that collects prepared and perishable food that would otherwise be wasted and delivers it to organizations serving the hungry in the Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic counties of New Jersey. Most important, please pass this information along! Summer and Autumn are seasons of food abundance – let’s make sure we share it and put it all to good use.
