Earth Day Gratitude Walk

Earth Day is a perfect time to fully appreciate all that Mother Nature provides us! Join us as we celebrate nature while supporting our own health and wellness on Sunday, April 14th at 11:30 a.m. We will offer a guided meditation walk led by Mary Jane Kasliner through the trails at Allaire State Park. Mary Jane is an accomplished author, yoga teacher, and Feng Shui consultant with a deep understanding of the important role nature plays in our health and wellness. Through her experience and knowledge, Mary Jane will lead the group on a light-hearted walk that draws your awareness to the natural treasures that surround us on the trail through a moving mediation in the early spring landscape. The walk is a great way to connect with like-minded members of your community, unwind, and de-stress from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives.

During the meditation walk, participants are encouraged to gather items that they are drawn to which can later be used in building your personal “Despacho” gift. In Peru, there’s an ancient ceremony called the “Despacho.” The word means “sending a message or care package” as an act of love that reminds us of the interconnectedness shared between all beings and the planet earth. Each participate will go home with instructions of how to make their gratitude gift and how to offer it back to the earth. The process of building your own gift brings all aspects of your consciousness into being. Let yourself be organically inspired and choose items in nature that speak to you. There are additional items you can add to your gift that are suggested in your instruction packet.

We will meet at the Nature Center parking area, which can be accessed using the main entrance to Allaire State Park (same entrance as the village and railroad area). The Nature Center parking area is to the right shortly after entering the park and is marked by a sign. Donation of $20 will be collected at the event. Please bring cash or check. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The trail may have areas that are muddy. In the event of inclement weather, you will be notified of a rain date. Please be sure to register, so that we can keep you posted on any changes due to weather. Email abrockwell@monmouthconservation.org with any questions.
