Colts Neck Inn Hotel- A Country Spot At The Shore

From the minute I walked into the lobby of The Colts Neck Inn Hotel, I felt at home. The ambiance, the front desk, and the circular staircase that unites many a married couple greeted me as I entered, along with two bicycles for hire – and Free.

The Colts Neck Inn Hotel incorporated in 1997 has a vintage holiday feel, historical wood furnishings, tastefully decorated, and a welcoming fireplace like the Colts Neck Inn Steak & Chophouse, a two-minute walk up the hill – on the same property. The Steakhouse was established as the Colts Neck Tavern in 1717 and known as The Colts Neck Inn, before becoming a restaurant.

I wanted accommodations within 15 minutes from the new location for the Bayshore Companion Dog Club bayshoredogclub.org in Tinton Falls. My pup Pip was attending a Scentwork Trial. We were both happy to be out of New York City for the weekend and hoping for a quiet respite. To my pleasure – we both got a good night’s sleep before heading out the following morning.

We stopped by the front desk on our way out, after a continental breakfast and a great cup of cafes. Grace, the manager, like her co-worker Karen, have been a welcoming team since 2005. “It’s my home away from home,” said Grace. I asked what folks liked most about their stay. “Cozy,” replied Karen.

There were so many wonderful places to visit nearby as our weekend unfolded. Jersey Shore Premium Outlets, Delicious Orchards, the Collingswood Auction, and Pip’s favorite romp at The Jersey Shore – Asbury Park’s 8th Avenue Dog Beach, www.facebook.com/AsburyParkDogBeach highlighted afterward by a stroll down Main Street in Ocean Grove, where Pip got lots of attention and delivered some wet and wild kisses.

As our evening arrived, Pip got toasty by the lobby fireplace; then was out like a light in our spacious room. I left for a sit-down dinner at The Colts Neck Inn Steak & Chophouse – without any begging interruptions – just a welcoming staff in the “winners circle” and lots of vintage photos of The Inn and the greatest racehorses in its hey-day.
