A Plea for Asbury Park’s Youth-in-Need

We need your help to keep our music education programs going this summer via virtual and small in-person summer camps—and for the 2020-2021 school year. Our curriculum is crucial for at-risk students from low-income families in Asbury Park and the surrounding area. These students are often on subsidized lunch programs in an area that still ranks among the highest crime rates in NJ. It is a particularly critical time since they have lost the structure of school days and after-school programs. APMF has missed out on many of its typical fundraising shows and concerts and is struggling to continue to offer these life-changing programs beyond the end of June. Students who have been engaged in our programs for more than 3 years may be told that we can no longer support them.

EVERY donation counts. Every $500 that we raise will cover several months of scholarships or get kids to a summer camp. Can you contribute and help a student who truly needs our music community? The experiences we offer them in partnership with the City of Asbury Park and other local organizations such as Lakehouse Music Academy, Interfaith Neighbors, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Monmouth County can be life-changing.

We know that there are many well-deserving entities in our community right now and we hope that you can find a way to support the vital programs of the APMF as well. Our kids count on us and our supporters to provide them with the best future possible, and we are facing a critical juncture as we prepare to close our books on June 30th at a deficit.

Please consider a contribution of ANY amount and help us continue our mission. You can donate online via our website or mail your check payable to APMF to: Asbury Park Music Foundation, 621 Lake Avenue, Unit 1C Asbury Park, NJ 07712.

As it says on our merchandise, Music Saved Asbury Park—and with your help, music will keep it alive for generations to come. Every dollar counts, especially now. Thank you. Stay healthy and safe!
