The Squan Beach Life-Saving Station will be presenting a lecture by Dan Radel. Our doors will open at 7 PM.  Come join us and listen to the stories of some of the shipwrecks at the Jersey Shore.

On a fateful day, Dec. 16, 1947, the Paramount V from Brielle was out for codfish with a small party of fishermen when the weather became bad. The captain picked up anchor and headed for home. They almost made it, but as the boat approached Manasquan Inlet, it got swamped by three waves and capsized, tossing the passengers into the sea. Seven fishermen drowned. Join Asbury Park Press reporter and historian Dan Radel as he recounts this tale and other maritime tragedies in a talk about shipwrecks at the Jersey Shore.

Dan Radel is a reporter for the Asbury Park Press and an adjunct history professor at Brookdale Community College. He grew up in Brielle, where he worked on fishing boats.
