Last weekend, I went to an event at Woody’s Roadside Tavern in Farmingdale called “Yappy Hour.” It’s something they host every Friday from 3:30 to 6:00 pm throughout the summer, where they invite you to bring your dog to have a cocktail with.
The outside area has a tiki bar and is very nice and spacious. It offered several dining tables, along with additional picnic tables that stretched throughout the front and back. The popular sack-throwing corn hole game was set up in the back area as well.
While Tyler Veit (the gentleman they hired for musical entertainment) was setting up his equipment on stage, I took a look at their “Pup-Tails” menu. Some of the drinks on it really caught my eye. I had to get my dog Marley to stop licking the orange slice on my beer before I could take more pictures.
What captured my attention the most was the dog menu, where they make meals specifically for your pets.
Since my dog is rather small, I ordered his meal to-go so I could split it into smaller portions. It was impressive though how they diced up a burger patty and mixed it in with the rice.
And of course, no tiki bar is complete without a rum bucket menu. This one had four different options to choose from, but I wasn’t sure if my stomach was up to the task after having a Blue Moon.
My dog’s stomach, however, seemed perfectly fine. His burger meal came with a cup of whipped cream, which he devoured in record time.
Overall, Woody’s Yappy Hour was a highly amusing experience. It’s a great way to get your dog out, and I recommend it especially to people whose pets spend a lot of time indoors.
