Wall Townships Walking Trails

By Tracey Hall

One of the many great things about living here in Southern Monmouth County is how close we are to walking trails. In addition to the boardwalks and Main Streets, there are paved pathways designed for a quick walk outside. The Wall Township Municipal Building on Allaire Road has become a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts.

There are soccer fields as far as the eye can see, new basketball courts, football and baseball fields and several playgrounds. Circling all of these is a paved trail that can be a full 1.75 miles or less if you prefer. Pine trees and grasses line the way and make for a very pretty setting.
This trail is also a spur that leads to the Felix Edgar Bicycle Path about 1.2 miles from the Municipal Complex.
Located behind the North Wall Little League Fields off of Belmar Blvd. is another walkway the locals love take advantage of. Formerly part of the Camp Evans Army base, it’s a dog walker’s dream and many furry friends are seen practically anytime you visit. A much quicker walk, the entire path is just under one mile. During the baseball season, the “Shack” is usually open for food and beverages and many games are played under the lights at night.
The smallest path is located behind Central School on Allenwood Road. This is a special treat for locals because it is relatively quiet and easy to access. This path circles around the playground and field of the grammar school and is another great spot to walk the dog. There aren’t any lights but it’s perfect for a quick lap or two during the day.
It’s always nice to see that a community strives to include fitness into their master plans. Where do you like to walk? Please comment below on other trails we can explore here at the Jersey Shore
