Conservation movement founder Henry David Thoreau had long advised that “we need the tonic of wilderness”, something many outdoor enthusiasts have intrinsically known. However, there is now significant medical research to confirm that mindful immersion in nature can release stress, lower high blood pressure, and decrease depression.
What better way to experience why land preservation is so important to our health than to immerse yourself in nature at one of our walks. We are offering three types of walks at parks around Monmouth County throughout the year.
Join us to enjoy the long days of summer as we explore the trails of Huber Woods before kicking off another weekend at the Jersey Shore! This is a late afternoon walk through Huber Woods. We will meet in the parking lot before setting out on one of the shady trails.
Our Nature Walks are a great opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, get some exercise and explore a park. Nature Walks are also a way to connect with other local nature lovers and chat along the trail as we discover some of the best parks in our area. Walks will be led by an MCF staff member or volunteer that will point out wildlife or native plants, but mostly these events are an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful forested trails with other members of the MCF community. Nature Walks are free. We ask that participants consider becoming a member of MCF. Registration is required.
