Nutrition, health care, and free screenings are the prescription for the day as Lunch Break and collaborators team up to host the Sixth Annual Red Bank Community Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at the Community YMCA, 166 Maple Ave., Red Bank.

“This is an incredible free event that offers a little bit of everything for participants – nutrition, health and fun for the children. We encourage families and individuals to participate. Everybody is welcome,” says Sharda Jetwani Love, Program Director for Lunch Break.

The fair, which benefits locals and residents, is also sponsored by the Children and Family Health Institute at the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group, Hackensack Meridian Health, Community YMCA, Red Bank Resource Network, and the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County.

Health care, social service professionals and representatives from Veterans Affairs will provide valuable resources and information. In addition, there will be henna- and face-painting, as well as giveaways and refreshments. Free screenings and tests will be offered for blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol levels, body mass index (BMI), and stroke risk.

Last year’s event attracted 200 attendees and 30 vendors. “This year we are hoping for more people and encouraging new vendors to join us,” says Jetwani Love.

Among the vendors who are participating include: Eat Clean Bro, Freehold; KYDS, Asbury Park; American Friends Service Committee, Red Bank; 180 Turning Lives Around, Hazlet; Affordable Housing Alliance, Neptune; Community Affairs and Resource Center, Asbury Park; and Amerigroup.

For more information and for non-profit organizations interested in participating contact Sharda Jetwani Love at sjetwani@lunchbreak.org or (732) 747-8577, Ext. 3011.  Registration is not required to attend.
