Mediterranean Diet Tops List Again

The Mediterranean Diet has been named the number one diet overall for the second consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report. The diet also claims the top spot in categories such as easiest diets to follow, best diets for diabetes, best plant-based diets, and best diets for healthy eating (which was a tie). The DASH Diet took the number two overall spot, followed by the Flexitarian Diet in third, and tied in fourth was Weight Watchers and the MIND Diet.

“While the fundamentals of healthy eating remain constant year to year, new research and insights help continuously evolve best practices over time,” says expert panelist Dr. David Katz, director of the Yale University Prevention Research Center, and author of The Truth about Food. “The U.S. News Best Diets rankings rely on diverse expertise to respond to what’s new and diverting in nutrition, while highlighting healthy eating principles that are time-honored, evidence-based, and reliable.”
