The South Street Players of Spring Lake are featuring the beloved play, “I Hate Hamlet” for its February shows at Wesley Hall, Spring Lake. The director Melanie Taylor chose this particular play for their lineup this year because it’s a “love letter to the theatre and the beautifully resilient souls who live in that world”, she says. The premise is a famous television actor whose sitcom has been cancelled, thus he tries his hand at Shakespeare, taking us along on his hilarious journey of self-discovery.
Featuring the ghost of John Barrymore (who famously played the part in real life), who appears to guide the failed star back to his love for the stage. It shows us how the theatre gets into your blood and lights you up from the inside.
South Street Players has been producing outstanding, creative shows for 43 years. Come join us in the heart of Spring Lake for some heartfelt laughs and a lot of talent!
