Spring cleaning is more common in the home than in your business, but I believe for entrepreneurs, it’s an opportunity for a fresh start! Who couldn’t use a fresh start?
It is a great time to pause and really take a look at your business. Ask yourself, what worked, what didn’t, what you would like to change? We all have habits, good and bad. Reflecting on the first three months of the year will have a positive effect on your business. Cleaning out ineffective habits from your daily routine can help you to maximize your schedule and ultimately become more productive!
Here are 4 tips for spring cleaning your business:
- Clean out the time wasters – We all have habits that waste our time. Reading our emails, scrolling through social media, and people who take a lot of time out of our day. Set up a hard do not disturb time for yourself. If you are working from 9 – 12 let’s say, and people stop in between those times and you stop and give them each 5 – 10 minutes each time how much productive time did you lose? Set a specific time to read emails and look at social media and stick to it.
- Sweep the dirt from under the rug – Throw out old leads and clean out your database. This will give you the space to Add new promising contacts that you have made. It will also allow you to spend more time on new opportunities.
- Dust off your business – Set new 3, 6, 9 goals. It is smart to evaluate your business adjust your plan according to what is working and what isn’t working. Dust your desk and shelves, and put some fresh flowers in the room, that always helps too.
- Declutter – Get rid of excess things in your surroundings. Clutter can have a huge impact on your ability to focus and process information. This can result in lost time, missed deadlines, and lower productivity. Throw out what you don’t need, old business cards, papers and anything that is just taking up space.
Cleaning out ineffective habits, time wasters and clutter will all help you to maximize your brand and get the most out of your schedule. As an added bonus, it will also make you feel AWESOME! So roll up your sleeves and start cleaning! You will feel so much better after you’ve finished sweeping the dirt from under the rug. Throw out old leads and clean out your database.
