Thanksgiving is one of the most enjoyable days of the year. It’s such a lovely time because of the anticipated homecomings and gatherings with family over a delicious meal. I’ve found that early November is the best time to start cleaning and prepping for the holidays.
Here are a few simple tips to take the stress out of hosting Thanksgiving at your home:
1- Start with the clutter- sort through and put away on a daily basis to avoid build-up. Baskets come in handy as a place to keep things that are used every day, but don’t need to be seen.
2-Determine when your company is arriving and plan on getting the guest rooms clean and fresh. Simple things make all the difference and you can have this job done way ahead of time.
3-Add some holiday decor and lighting. Seasonal throw pillows, candles and wreaths are an easy way to make your home look more festive.
4-Take a quick inventory of your kitchen- is everything working properly? Do you have enough table settings and glassware? Replace what is broken and repair what you can.
5- Make lists! I like to have a food shopping list and a “to-do” list for the house- helps keep me organized!
Most importantly, slow down and enjoy this time with your loved ones. Home is where the heart is and remember what you have to be thankful for!
