Join American Littoral Society naturalists Jeff and Nicole as we embark on our annual Spring Equinox Walk!

Occurring twice a year, the Equinox signals the beginning of Spring and end of Summer. Many cultures around the world feast and celebrate because it is the time when day and night are of equal length. At Sandy Hook we take a stroll through the local maritime forest and pause to watch a beautiful sunset. Maybe even try to balance that darn egg!

Wednesday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. Meet at Building 18 in Fort Hancock section of Sandy Hook National Recreation Area.

One month from today, we will celebrate the Spring Equinox. It is called the equinox because it’s one of two days in the year when daylight and darkness agree to equally share the 24 hours in a day. Truth or myth – you can balance a raw egg on its end! Not sure if that’s true, but it’s a great day to celebrate with an early evening walk on the Hook .
