One of the simplest, most cost-effective alternatives to oxygen bleach is hydrogen peroxide. Why? Like store-bought OxiClean, hydrogen peroxide is a miracle cure for many stains, especially organic ones, like blood, sweat, bodily fluids, and wine. You can use any hydrogen peroxide, even the common three-percent dilution you’d buy from a drug store, directly on a fresh stain. Pour just enough to cover the affected area. You’ll know immediately whether it’s going to work because you’ll see the stain fade.

You can also use hydrogen peroxide as a boost in a regular load of laundry, but to get the most out of it, you’ll need it in a less-diluted form, because running the washing machine will add even more water to the mix. Store-bought hydrogen peroxide is diluted to three percent, so it’s basically water. The best way to use it for laundry is in its concentrated form.

The highest concentration you can buy in the U.S. is 30 to 35 percent, which you may be able to find in industry-supply stores (for science laboratories, restaurants, or hair salons) locally or online.

What’s not to love about fall? With pumpkin spice and changing leaves most of us want to cozy down come fall. We decorate our houses and prepare for the upcoming holidays. Traditionally, spring cleaning steals the show when it comes to cleaning our homes. But, a good cleaning in the fall may be just as important. Remember, you’ll be spending a lot more time in your home than you have all summer. Here are just a few things you should add to your cleaning list.

Kids across the country are back in school and one of the biggest concerns parents have (besides their kids getting sick) is that they will be bringing germs from school back into the home. The priority is to keep the home decontaminated because that’s where we begin to worry about the spread to older individuals who are definitely more at risk.
