“Light of Day Winterfest going virtual in February, performances filmed in Asbury Park”
The annual Light of Day Winterfest, which raises funds in the fight against Parkinson's and related diseases, will go virtual this year with performances streamed from Friday, Feb. 12, through Sunday, Feb. 14, on the Light of Day's Facebook and YouTube sites.
Performances have been filmed in a closed Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park. The Feb. 12 broadcast will replicate the Light of Day show normally at the Stone Pony on the Friday of LOD weekend, said festival director Tony Pallagrosi, and the Feb. 14 broadcast will be a Songwriters by the Sea-themed show.

The Feb. 13 broadcast will be a greatest hits of the last two years of the Light of Day. Also, musicians will be asked to stream their own performances, which will then be included in the Light of Day programming. “The silent issue with Parkinson's patients and PSP patients and ALS patient is isolation,” Pallagrosi said. “In this environment, the isolation is exponentially made worst because isolation becomes a way of living for everyone.”
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects nearly 1 million people in the United States and over 10 million worldwide, according to the Parkinson’s Foundation. It’s the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s and is the 15th leading cause of death in the U.S.
More details on the Light of Day, including performers, are coming.
