The Squan Beach Life Saving Station will be presenting a lecture by Fred Carl - "In Peril: Saving Lives Along the Shores of New Jersey". Admission is $10 per person. Our doors will open at 7 PM. Come join us to share the history of the men and women who saved so many lives along our shores.
Monmouth County and New Jersey were the scene of thousands of horrible shipwrecks. Using the technology of the day, requiring valiant acts of bravery, thousands were saved from death on the beach. Monmouth County was also the place where fantastic innovations were harnessed. Atlantic Ocean crossings are made in comfort and safety.
Speaker Fred Carl is a Monmouth County native. While working full time in the computer industry, he took on the volunteer quest to save historic Camp Evans. Gathering old friends and finding new ones, we met many daunting challenges. Today the site is a 37 acre National Historic Landmark with 16 buildings and seven museums under the stewardship of InfoAge Science-History Center. A premier museum is the New Jersey Shipwreck Museum hosted by the New Jersey Historical Divers Association.
Seating is limited. Please RSVP by calling Dan Lieb at 732-776-6261 or
