5 Inspiring Quotes from Dr Seuss

By Tracey Hall ~

On this day in 1904, one of the most prolific authors was born in Springfield MA. He is the 9th best-selling author of all time with an estimated 600 million copies sold. Born Theodore Seuss Geisel, he was much more than a writer of children’s books. A political satirist, illustrator, poet, annimator and author, Suess won many honors and awards including an Academy Award for Best Documentary.

He is best known for the lyrical tales told to several generations of children. My personal favorite is “Green Eggs and Ham” with “Grinch” falling in to second place. As an adult, you become aware at just how inspiring his words are. Here are five quotes that resonate through the ages:

1- “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
― Dr. Seuss, Happy Birthday to You!

2- “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
― Dr. Seuss

3- “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

4- “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
― Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

5- “They say I’m old-fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast!”
― Dr. Seuss
